KATE WEBER AND FRIENDS

June 3rd - First Ellery's Open Mic

NEXT OPEN MIC SATURDAY JUNE 10TH

A WORD FROM KATE WEBER
Band Members Kate Weber - Vocalist & MCJohn Caruana - BassEd Pampani - Drums (A PLEASANT SYMMETRY)JR Bradfield - GuitarMike Masucci - Keyboards

What can I say? The first Ellery's Saturdays of Summer Open Mic Night was awesome!!! The night was full of all kinds of great music - from Indy acoustic rock to blues to classic rock. We even had Ellery's regular, Johnny C, get up and do a slammin' version of Lee Roy Brown! Paul N. played a mean bass along with JR Bradfield on guitar and Jeff K on drums. When Mike Masucci came up to play keys, all bets were off! They did an amazing medly of songs that had everyone singing along Local acoustic duo, Jessica and Milan stunned the entire bar with their powerful originals - we hope to see them again soon. Subject to Change made short work of some Bob Segar, Black Crowes, and Tina Turner, with Ed P and Brad backing them up on drums.
Many thanks to Ed Pampani and The BassBoards, who graciously lugged all of their equipment to the bar and allowed everyone to jam on it. They did a great job backing up anyone that wanted to play! Thanks also to my hubby, Mark Weber, for backing me up on some acoustic stuff and loaning out his amp
Many, many thanks to Angela and Justin, the bartenders for the evening, and to John Ellery, for taking the chance on a Saturday open mic night. We gave away some cool hats, T-shirts, and other goodies. Every Saturday, we'll be raffling off everything from T-shirts to tickets. You will just have to come to find out!
Remember - this Open Mic is every Saturday night in June and July! All musicians are welcome - any level, any style!!!!
Hope to see you next week!
Keep on rockin' -
Kate

Roots Review 9

Roots Review 9
American Roots 9 was another exciting musical celebration with stand out performances by many of the biggest names on this area's music scene.Special mentions have to go to JR Bradfield for his solo entertainment to kick the night off, then his inspiring rendition of the Star Spangeled Banner played on a guitar he built himself from an old tree stump in his back yard. JR Bradfield's dedication and enthusiasm for our roots movement is inspiring in itself.John Powers, the young standout guitarst, vocalist and drummer was amazing and, I'm happy to say he will be my American Roots guest host partner again next week. John Powers is someone you need to make an effort to come out and see folks so you can at least say, "you knew him when" because I'm telling you, JP is going somewhere. Many thanks to him and his band the Arturos for their huge efforts in helping keep the roots alive. We also celebrated Tommy Fuller's 60th birthday at roots 9 with a cake and song and although he only came out that night to listen and enjoy the music he could not ignore the pleas from the crowd of fans for him to play so he took the stage like the professional entertainer that he is and put on the performance of his life. If you've ever seen this consumate performer do his thing before - you can imagine how GREAT Tommy Fuller was this night. So many awesome players did their thing that night I would like to thank them (in no particular order) and hope I don't leave anybody out: Johnny Charles, Ed Pampani, Mike Caruso, Snakeman Runyan, Rotten Robert, Pat Mullen, Jim Somma, Tommy Haze, Brad Sicotte, Kate Weber, Bones Sandford, Alan Rogoff, Len De Piano, Sal Cheech, Todd Lanka and good 'ol BB; Bernie Brauswetter - all awesome people - thank you. Many special thanks again go to The Rail ownership, management and staff, Mike, Lynn, Sarah, Amanda, Jessica, Byron, and especially my American Roots compadre Nick Wasco for bending over backwards for our American Roots movement. Nick is a visionary and sees the big picture - for this and more - we all love him.And don't forget the American Roots BB King Steak dinner special at The Rail. It's a 20 oz. porterhouse steak with baby field green salad and skewered red potatoes seasoned just right, and it's only available on Roots night. So folks please make sure you come early and get a great seat, enjoy the awesome food - then the awesome music.Very special thanks to Eddie Ray of Computown Technologies in South Bound Brook for his tireless efforts and Ed Pampani and Win.Please continue to help keep American Roots music alive for the next generations. I thank you.See you Thursday at American Roots 10 - then I'm off for a few days of blues in the rainforest with our good friend Duane Chez in Puerto Rico (so posting Roots Review 10 may be delayed a bit) but I'll be back for American Roots 11 for another night of our exciting, ongoing American Roots celebration. And remember, you never know who you're going to meet down at the station.Keeping it real,Ned

Roots Review 8

Roots Review 8
Sorry for the late review folks, I have been over the top busy lately working on multiple projects, but once again our American Roots open mic was a huge success - this time thanks to John Powers & the Arturos! What a great young band. John Powers (a fabulous guitarist and vocalist) and the Arturos deliver a passionate, roots-based modern thing and make you believe it.There were so many players in the house again that I know one or two got away from me without getting a chance to play. Again I am sorry.Help!! Volunteers please.nastyned@att.netAmerican Roots 8 went late, top heavy with legendary local players. Tommy Fuller, Johnny Charles, Mike Caruso all on stage together - awesome, with John Powers and Ed Pampani playing drums. This is why I say there is no other show like ours anywhere.Special thanks to Walter Foot, Snakeman Runyan, Gene Downin, Steve, Dorean, Chris O'Sullivan & Chet Smith, Len De Piano, Jim Somma, JR Bradfield, Arne Englund, Big Boy Kenny Nerbak, Rotten Robert, Bones Sanders and all who came to dig it.Special thanks again go to The Rail ownership, management and staff, Sarah, Amanda, Jessica, Byron, and especially Nick for the American Roots $20.00 dinner and drink cerificates we raffled off and all the other cool stuff, too. And for coming up with the BB King Steak dinner special - a 20 oz. porterhouse with baby field green salad and skewered red potatoes seasoned just right- and it's only available on Roots night. Make sure you come early and get a great seat.Very special thanks to Eddie Ray of Computown Technologies in South Bound Brook for his tireless efforts and Ed Pampani and Win.Keep your spirit people and please continue to help keep American Roots music alive for the next generations. Thank you.See you next Thursday at American Roots 9 when our guest host band will be - I'm pleased to say - John Powers and the Arturos. If you missed it last week - don't miss it this time - these guys are great - and great guys too.And remember, you never know who you're going to meet down at the station. Word has it there might be two, additional very notable participants at American Roots 9.Keeping it real,Ned
